November 2015 Salon

The 14th meeting of the GAP Salon will take place on Wednesday, 25 November at 7:30PM.
This meeting will be hosted at Fourth Monkey Theatre in Finsbury Park (97-101 Seven Sisters Road, N7 7QP London).

Massive thanks to Flora Dawson for organising the venue for this Salon meeting, and to Fourth Monkey for hosting us!

Our November Salon will follow on from our Devoted and Devoted & Disgruntled UK satellite in September (Gender and Performance: It’s Not Just You) and recent conversations within the Salon about leadership, getting more members involved, and finding a home for GAP.

An online discussion forum and details of future meetings can be found at the GAP Salon Facebook groupAs always, you are welcome, and feel free to bring any interested parties.

The GAP Salon (Gender and Performance) meets monthly to connect, sustain, and inspire artists working for gender equality. We facilitate conversations within this community and support initiatives that come from GAP Salon members.

These initiatives so far have included performance projects like Bite The Apple, a co-hosted WOW Party at the Southbank Centre’s Women of the World Festival, and a new writing night at the Postscript festival. We also arrange periodic group theatre trips to see gender-conscious plays around London.

Most recently, GAP Salon cohosted a Devoted & Disgruntled satellite event at Camden People’s Theatre’s feminist festival, Calm Down Dear. Click here to read the D&D reports from Gender and Performance: It’s Not Just You.

In July, we partnered with Lisa Wolpe of LA Women’s Shakespeare Company, the London Shakespeare Centre at Kings College, and the Young Vic Directors Programme to offer a 4-day TranShakespeare workshop for 40 actors, directors and dramaturgs to create cross-gender Shakespeare performance.

We’ve got some new initiatives in the works; you can get involved with those or come and propose a new idea. What’s next is up to you.

We are always looking for a meeting space for the GAP Salon; if you know of a venue that might be interested in partnering with us (either as a one-off or more long term) please contact Amy Clare Tasker at
